Files and network video

On Mac, choose Open File or drag a local file into the player. Network playback accepts direct HTTP, HTTPS and HLS media links. A video website page is usually not a direct media address.

In the direct Mac edition, send supported public video pages to Download Video, then play completed downloads from your library.

Formats and compatibility

Alongside MP4, MKV and MOV, Auvimo can play less common formats such as RMVB, FLV, WMV, M2TS, VOB and MXF. The same extension can contain different codecs; playback depends on the file, codecs and device. DRM-protected media is not supported.

Subtitle support and appearance vary by format. Complex ASS styles and image subtitles may retain their original layout rather than follow custom positioning.

Support by entry point

The formats above apply to direct playback. The direct Mac edition’s library import and torrent file selection currently accept MP4, MKV, MOV, M4V, AVI, WebM, TS, M2TS, WMV, FLV, MPG, MPEG, OGV, MTS, VOB and 3GP. Try Open File for other formats. Lite does not include this library.

Network playback accepts direct HTTP/HTTPS media URLs and HLS (M3U8). Hardware acceleration depends on the codec and device. Multichannel decoding does not imply passthrough or spatial audio. VOB playback does not imply DVD menus or encrypted-disc support.

More formats recognized by the engine 360

The engine recognizes these media, stream, image-sequence and auxiliary formats. Some need additional parameters, companion files or decoders and are not supported by every playback or import entry point.

Subtitles and playback controls

Select primary and secondary tracks in the subtitle panel, or import external subtitles. Adjust their timing and position separately. Audio track selection, speed, A–B repeat, full screen and resume playback are available.

System Picture in Picture on Mac may take several seconds to start or seek, longer on slow networks. Closing the main window keeps PiP playback running; use the system return button or Dock icon to restore the window. Private videos on mobile do not use PiP.

Public video downloads

Direct Mac edition only: open Download Video from More or the library, paste a link and select an available quality after parsing. Up to 3 video link tasks can run at once. Completed files join your library automatically.

Download supported public videos from YouTube, Bilibili, TikTok, Weibo, AcFun, X, Xiaohongshu, Douyin and some other websites without signing in. Availability changes with website policies and individual links; no fixed quality or universal support is promised. Parts of a single Bilibili BV video can be selected together, but collections across BV IDs are not supported.

Login/Cookie import, DRM, live-stream downloads, WeChat Channels and general playlists are not supported. Follow the error guidance to retry, parse again or replace a link. Download only content you have permission to save.

Torrents and magnet links

In the direct Mac download dialog, select the torrent/magnet source. After parsing, select videos and a destination group. Tasks support pause, resume, cancel and upload limits. Verified files join the library.

Speed depends on peers, seeds and network access. BitTorrent exchanges data with other peers and may upload content. Your IP address is visible to connected peers.

Organize, import and remove

The direct Mac library includes groups, search, grid and list views. Dragging in or importing local files creates copies and preserves the originals. Export also creates a copy.

Removing a group does not delete its videos. Deleting media removes the app-managed copy. Clearing finished download records does not delete library videos; active tasks and files awaiting import are retained.

Watch on iPhone and iPad

Import from Files or Photos to create an app-managed copy. For Wi-Fi transfer, connect your computer and device to the same network, open the transfer page in the app, then enter the displayed address and verification code in the computer browser.

Private space uses its own password and recovery code, with locally encrypted media and encrypted backup and restore. Keep your password, recovery code and backups safe; the developer cannot decrypt them for you. Viewing history does not sync automatically across devices.

Troubleshooting

Try a local file first. Check that the network address is still available, the file has not moved and your device has enough storage. For website downloads, confirm the link works without signing in.
